Strongsize is a direct-to-consumer apparel brand purpose-built for big and tall men, offering a wide range of tops, bottoms, and performance wear in sizes XL through 8XL. In a market where most brands treat extended sizing as an afterthought, Strongsize was founded on the belief that larger men deserve clothing that actually fits the way it should, at a price point that makes sense.

Dispatch began working with Strongsize as their retention marketing partner, taking full ownership of email, SMS, and lifecycle automation strategy and execution. Over the course of the partnership, Dispatch built out the brand's entire retention infrastructure from the ground up, including a complete suite of automated flows, a monthly campaign calendar, and a net-new SMS program, all managed inside Klaviyo and integrated seamlessly with their Shopify store.

Where We Started

When Dispatch came on board, Strongsize had the fundamentals of an email program in place but lacked the strategic depth and execution infrastructure needed to scale it. Their automated flows were either underdeveloped or missing altogether, which meant that a significant portion of high-intent traffic, subscribers who had browsed products, abandoned carts, or made a first purchase, was not being properly followed up with. Meanwhile, the brand had no SMS program at all, leaving an entire high-performing retention channel completely untapped. Campaign strategy was inconsistent, and there was limited testing or optimization happening on a regular basis to drive incremental improvement. The brand was growing on the acquisition side but did not have the retention infrastructure in place to make those paid ad dollars go as far as they should.

The key objectives identified were to rebuild the brand's automated flow infrastructure with a full suite of high-converting sequences, launch and scale a net-new SMS program from zero, establish a monthly campaign cadence that drove consistent revenue without relying exclusively on promotional discounts, and put a process in place for ongoing testing and optimization across all channels.

Flows That Finally Match the Customer Journey

One of Dispatch's first priorities was to build out a complete library of automated lifecycle flows for Strongsize from the ground up. Rather than applying generic templates, the team mapped out the unique purchase journey of a big and tall apparel customer: someone who often needs to evaluate fit, sizing accuracy, and brand trust before committing to a first purchase. Each flow was built with that nuance in mind, using messaging and creative that spoke directly to what Strongsize's customer actually cares about. The welcome series was rebuilt to establish brand trust early, highlight the brand's unique fit philosophy, and drive that critical first conversion within the first seven days of a subscriber entering the list.

Beyond the welcome series, Dispatch built out abandoned cart and browse abandonment flows, post-purchase sequences designed to increase repeat purchase rate, and a customer winback program to re-engage lapsed buyers. The results were significant: email flow revenue grew by 879.8% compared to the previous period. SMS flows added thousands in revenue on top of that, a channel that had previously generated zero dollars for the brand. Together, the expanded and rebuilt flow infrastructure became the backbone of Strongsize's retention revenue.

Launching SMS from Zero

Before partnering with Dispatch, Strongsize had no SMS program at all. There were no lists, no flows, no campaigns, and no infrastructure to build from. Dispatch handled the complete buildout: from establishing the SMS list and compliance setup, to designing the opt-in experience, creating the initial flow sequences, and then layering in a strategic campaign program on top. The goal from day one was to treat SMS not as a secondary channel but as a high-intent touchpoint that could reach customers at the right moment with the right message, whether that was a cart recovery text, a flash sale alert, or a seasonal promotion.

The channel scaled quickly. As list size grew and campaign cadence matured, SMS became a meaningful and consistent contributor to Strongsize's monthly retention revenue. Today, SMS campaigns consistently appear among the top revenue-generating sends each month, running alongside email in a coordinated, omnichannel approach.

Shop the Look: Non-Promotional Revenue That Performs Like a Sale

One of the more distinctive campaign strategies that emerged from the Dispatch partnership was the Shop the Look format: a content-driven email concept that showcases complete outfit combinations, giving subscribers a styled, aspirational view of the product line without relying on a discount to drive urgency. What started as an angle test in the monthly campaign calendar quickly became one of the most consistent revenue performers in Strongsize's email program. Rather than offering a percentage off, these emails inspire purchase by showing the customer exactly how the clothes look and how to wear them; an especially powerful approach for a brand whose core customer is often underserved by mainstream fashion content.

The Shop the Look email series now runs monthly as a permanent fixture in the campaign calendar. The creative shows a model styled in multiple coordinated looks, organized by day of the week or occasion, with clean product callouts and a direct path to purchase. Importantly, these emails consistently perform at or above the revenue levels of promotional sends, proving that non-discount content can drive serious revenue when it is built around a genuinely compelling concept and executed well. This format has become a template for how Dispatch approaches content-driven merchandising campaigns across its partner brands.
